How did you end up in your line of business?
I entered sales as a career, originally in the retail industry in the UK. Along the way I have made a few country moves, culminating in the U.S. where I arrived in 1997 to head up the inbound investment office for the British government. Through personal networking, I ended up in the accounting industry in 2003 and have remained there to this day.

How did you first get involved with ACG Boston?

I originally became a member in 2004 and subsequently joined the membership committee, which ultimately led me to becoming a board member. One of the most meaningful, early experiences I had was in developing the Emerging Professionals Committee, which you can see today is still going strong at ACG Boston, and has resulted in EP’s becoming today’s members and leaders of ACG.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

My parents always taught me that there is no substitute for hard work.

What is something people don’t know about you?

As a child, I used to play at my Aunt’s farm in Scotland, the former home of the great Scottish poet Robert Burns, and where he wrote To a Mouse.

What is your most satisfying professional accomplishment?

The many individuals I have had the opportunity to mentor, both through ACG and elsewhere, and seeing them subsequently grow and succeed.

What is the best vacation you’ve ever had?

On my last vacation I went to Rome and loved it. Just walking through the streets is like being in a fabulous museum.
